    Senior Buyer (Packaging)

    with a biopharmaceutical company in

    Torrance, CA

    who possesses:

    3 – 5 years' purchasing experience working with suppliers
    3 -5 years' of packaging components or raw materials (preferably in Nutrional Supplement or Food Industry)
    Working knowledge of manufacturing ERP systems (Please specify which systems)
    Must live within 30 Mile Radius

    :


    The primary responsibility of this position is to purchase packaging material, including but not limited to films, bags, chipboard boxes, printed material, and some raw materials.

    Ensure competitive pricing from existing vendors and source new vendors. In this role, the Senior Buyer will ensure on time delivery of quality product to meet OTD to customers.

    Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.

    The incumbent must be able to coordinate multiple projects at once communicating with management and customers, internal and external on project progress.

    The selected candidate will be responsible for:


    Your goals will be to actively be involved in the strategic sourcing process, process Material Requirement Planning (MRP), and Purchase Orders for required materials.

    Analyze and document options for procurement of materials, goods, and services.
    Maintain and update vendor database and contact information.
    Compare and evaluate goods and contracts to recommend strategies.
    Negotiate pricing with suppliers on types of products, the number of products, price, and shipping.
    Make recommendations of purchase options for materials affected by price trends and market conditions.
    Provide support to all other departments when requested.
    Communicate effectively with all departments regarding any pertinent information.
    Must have a proven history of effective supply management.
    Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs.
    Any additional tasks assigned.

    The selected candidate will also possess:

    Minimum 5 Years' purchasing experience of raw materials and packaging components in the nutritional supplement or food industry preferred.
    A.A. degree or higher preferred.
    Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel.
    Working Knowledge of ERP systems required.
    Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills.
    Analytical with strong demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
    Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and achieve set targets.
    Able to work well under pressure.
    Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding, and cost breakdown.
    Experience in working closely with suppliers.
    Able to add value, reduce costs, and input to business improvements.

    Salary Range:

    $65k-70k/yr
