The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) department at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for one or more full-time, 9-month, benefited, tenure-track positions in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with the anticipated start date of August 2024. An earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field before the start date is required.
The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department invites outstanding applicants in all areas of electrical engineering with expertise or exceptional potential in leading a vibrant, externally funded, scholarly research program. The EECS Department has expertise in applied electromagnetics, antennas & communications, cyber-physical systems and security, data science and engineering, high performance computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence, robotics & autonomous systems, power & energy systems and virtual reality.
The successful candidate is expected to secure and lead externally funded research and perform scholarly activities, teach state-of-the-art undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in service activities as assigned.
The EECS department offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate B.S. degrees in Computer Engineering, Computer Science (with specialization options), Electrical Engineering, as well as graduate Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Electrical Engineering, Data Science and Engineering. In its 2021 rankings, puts SD Mines in the top 10 best electrical engineering degree programs in the nation. The graduate program in electrical engineering ranked 24th among the best electrical engineering programs offered nationwide by in 2018.
