    Description
    Position is assigned to the Comprehensive Health Services Section with Department of Adult Corrections. The primary purpose of this position is to provide health care services for the offender's population at the facility. Duties will include one or more designated institutions in the South Central Region. * Provides normal primary care services including acute and chronic medical care, preventive health services and health education to the offenders.
    • Provides medical care to all offender patients assigned to this facility.
    • Evaluation and treatment of a variety of medical conditions within the purview of internal medicine.
    • Performing minor office based surgical procedures and refers complicated cases to specialists.
    • Holds sick call for offenders, performs history and physical exams, attends emergency medical situations, holds chronic disease clinics, prescribes medications, conducts physical examinations, follow-up histories, records progress notes, utilizes HERO to maintain medical records of all patients seen and/or treated.
    • Coordinates and cooperates with nursing services in rendering appropriate health care.
    This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):The Dept.

    of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.

    This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.

    Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
