    Duties and Responsibilities

    This employee will fulfill the responsibilities of a part-time instructor at CCDs Veterinary Assistant Program.

    The Veterinary Technology Adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching veterinary assistant students in a classroom setting utilizing current technology. This includes teaching assigned classes at scheduled times and places; maintaining accurate student records (enrollment, attendance, and grades); conducting timely and consistent assessments of student learning achievements; and demonstrating a thorough and accurate knowledge of the subject area and of effective teaching practices. This position is responsible for teaching veterinary assistant students in a clinical/lab setting utilizing current instrumentation methodologies. This individual is committed to providing culturally sensitive care to patients of varying ethnic, linguistic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

    The Veterinary Technology Adjunct Instructor serves as a role model for veterinary assistant students by participating and being an active member of professional organizations and other extracurricular activities. This position assists, advises, and mentors students in accomplishing their course and program goals.

    Qualifications

    **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**

    **Education:**

    Graduated from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology school.

    Ability to obtain Colorado credential for vocational faculty (CTE credential).

    **Experience:**

    Two (2) years clinical experience to be equivalent to 4000 hours.

    Competency in small and large animal medicine and surgery;

    Experience working in a clinical setting with veterinary technicians and/or assistants.

    Physical ability to perform veterinary duties.

    **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:**

    Ability to demonstrate the correct usage of common veterinary technology instruments, lab, and surgery equipment.

    Organized, flexible and willing to accept new challenges.

    Demonstrated classroom delivery competency on a wide range of veterinary assistant core curriculum to include: hematology, parasitology, avian/exotics, veterinary anatomy and physiology and veterinary medical terminology.

    Ability to deliver classroom and clinic education providing cultural, racial, and ethnic sensitivity.

    Computer literacy in the following areas: email, internet usage, Power Point and Outlook.

    Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills;

    **Licensure/Certification:**

    Must have a current CVT, RVT or LVT credential.
