- Adhere to state laws, ACA regulations, and camp policies concerning healthcare procedures.
- Communication with parents regarding injuries or medications and addressing their inquiries about camp healthcare procedures.
- Assist in replenishing, organizing, and maintaining first aid kits and emergency response equipment across camp premises and for specialized activities.
- Maintain a daily medical log and promptly report accidents/incidents to the Director and Associate Director of Auxiliary Programs.
- Address and document any circumstances posing emotional or physical risks to individuals.
- Supervise the handling and storage of medications, health screenings, disposal of medical waste, and health assessments.
- Administer routine medical attention.
- Assess situations and determine, in accordance with the standing orders, when individuals require transportation to the hospital or clinic.
- Ensure compliance with camp regulations and enforce them consistently.
- Work alongside Assistant Counselors to manage student medication and accommodate food allergies.
- Maintain health and medical documentation and records on the School's electronic medical record system.
- Perform medical procedures as necessary.
- Monitor compliance of the school health program with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations and policies.
- Communicate with parents on health needs of students.
- Responds to crises when appropriate.
- Manage resources efficiently.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with the nursing team, employees, parents and students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of medical disorders and treatment and basic emergency care
- Ability to understand developmental levels of students
- Desire and ability to work with and relate to children
- Ability to assist with camp-wide healthcare, maintain records, and execute camp healthcare protocols
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
- Ability to work summer hours
- Knowledge of the USM culture and community served
- Strong interpersonal skills; capable of using tact and diplomacy in dealing with others
- High level of maturity, confidentiality, assertiveness and independence
- Capable of competently operating technology
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing
- State of WI Registered Nurse license
- CPR/AED Certification
- 3-5 years related experience in child health care or school nursing preferred; previous experience in healthcare particularly in caring for both children and adults
