- Provide short-term focused counseling, case management, and crisis intervention.
- Observing camp groups, and managing resources for groups around behavior regulation and coping strategies.
- Providing referrals and coordinating treatment with external providers, if needed.
- Providing culturally responsive care to campers and staff with an understanding of how social injustices impact one's experience, attitude, and beliefs.
- Create a welcoming environment at camp for both campers and staff.
- Participating in multidisciplinary student support teams.
- Communicating and coordinating with the Health Team, Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, Division leaders, and other camp administration to coordinate support for campers or staff with mental health needs.
- Complete clinical documentation in the individual camper or staff camp health records. Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or Camp Administration. Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field; licensure in MA is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of counseling experience in the student support area, and experience with children from early childhood through young adults in a school or camp setting.
- Experience working in a diverse and culturally responsive camp and commitment to trauma-informed practices.
- Understanding of social-emotional development from early childhood through young adults in a camp or school setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with camp administration to enhance understanding, inclusivity, and community.
- Exceptional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and establish clear boundaries.
- Understanding of camper safety laws and best practices Orientation: June 7-9
Camp hours: 8:15 am-4:15 pm Monday through Friday with some exceptions
This is a seasonal position that is exempt from overtime and benefits. The successful applicant will have experience with school/camp-based counseling with children and adolescents and can demonstrate skillfulness in working successfully with teams of other professionals. The applicant will be knowledgeable of and committed to approaches in their counseling and teaching that are culturally responsive and inclusive.

Role: Camp Coach- Behavior Specialist

Wheeler Summer's philosophy is about allowing campers to be active in an outdoor environment, explore new things, have fun, build confidence, and make long-lasting friendships
Our Summer Camp programs, for children ages 3 to 15, feature a busy day full of fun camp activities for campers grouped by age. Campers who are curious to explore have a choice of our two-week-long Specialty Camps in athletics, arts, and enrichment directed by highly qualified organizations and our wonderful Wheeler faculty. Our Specialty Camps are full-day programs that include a half-day of Specialty Camp and a half-day of Traditional Camp. Swim lessons take place each day for campers in both programs. Wheeler Summer will also offer a few specialized programs this summer that are full-day programs.
