    Posting Summary:

    As a member of the Division of Student Affairs' (DOSA) business management team, serve as the business operations lead for the Department of Residential Life, which provides housing, programming, support, and community to over 6,100 residential students on University of Vermont's (UVM) campus and manages 43 facilities for housing and dining services. Provide broad guidance on and management of the department's financial resources, human resources, and general business operations in alignment with the strategic direction provided by the department's director and divisional and institutional priorities. In collaboration with DOSA and Res Life's leadership teams, participate in strategic planning including financial and staffing analyses and proposals, and business process development and implementation. Oversee financial and human resources activities within Res Life, prioritizing efficiency, compliance, and responsible resource management. Serve as liaison with central HR and work directly with departmental staff on HR matters for the 80 plus full-time professional employees and hundreds of student employees including on aspects of performance management; recruiting, retention, and staffing transition planning and processes; and policy interpretation and compliance.

    Coordinating with departmental staff and central administrative offices, manage an over $70 million annual operating budget, including participation or leadership in contract bidding and negotiation processes. Serve as a primary point of contact to ensure that Res Life has the necessary processes, training, coordination, and oversight to successfully partner with central units such as the Administrative Business Service Center (ABSC), Human Resources, and Financial Services offices.

    Supervise two non-exempt staff members providing business operations support. Manage projects and initiatives for Res Life and the DOSA Business Management Team. May represent Residential Life or DOSA on divisional or institutional committees to internal and external constituents. This position reports to the Director of Business Operations for the Division of Student Affairs with functional supervision from the Director of Residential Life.

    Responsible for promoting an inclusive environment and experience for students and staff of all races, ethnicities, religions, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and ages. Responsible for supporting the mission, philosophies, and priorities of Residential Life, DOSA, and UVM.

    Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):

    Bachelor's degree in business administration or related area and four to six years related experience required. Budget management, coordination and analysis; and human resource and employee relations experience required. Demonstrated ability to actively engage in developing and implementing business processes that promote and support equity and inclusion required. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Experience supervising professional staff. Proficiency with productivity software (such as the Microsoft Office Suite), with intermediate to advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications required. Effective organizational skill and ability to think critically, plan effectively, and problem solve.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    Experience with enterprise HR and financial software such as PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin.

    Experience working in a higher education setting.

    Other Information:

    Anticipated Hiring Range: 72,000-82,000/year. Actual hiring pay dependent on current competitor market conditions, comparable campus peer(s) at time of hire, and candidate's experience level and length.
