    Description


    As a Senior Buyer, you are entrusted with the pivotal responsibility of overseeing procurement activities from pre-construction through post-construction phases, thereby contributing significantly to the operational success of A-C Electric Company.

    Your role is integral in maintaining vendor relationships, anticipating supply needs, and ensuring the seamless ordering of materials.

    You serve as a key contributor to a high performance Project Team, embodying the values of efficiency, transparency, and excellence in procurement practices.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Adherence to Policies:
    Adhere to department policy, procedures, and processes regarding material procurement activities and assignments.

    Strategic Planning and Coordination :
    Collaborate with Project Management Teams in kickoff meetings to establish purchasing strategies that align with project requirements.

    Working closely with Project Managers, Plan Detailers, and Project Engineers, develop detailed Bills of Material (BOMs) reflecting project nuances and changes.

    Consolidate purchase orders where possible to streamline procurement processes, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials.

    Conduct regular meetings with Project Teams to provide updates on material order status, budget status, and any pertinent procurement-related matters, fostering transparency and alignment.


    Execute Purchase Orders:
    Efficiently secure materials for Project Management Teams while optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO). Process Material and Equipment Requisitions (MER) within 1-2 business days. Coordinate with MEC Teams for inventory and surplus management. Ensure vendor quotes align with material specifications and lead times. Issue precise and timely purchase orders into the ERP system for centralized visibility.

    Facilitate Competitive Bids:
    Manage bid solicitations (RFQs) for purchases exceeding $10K. Develop RFQs and distribute to selected vendors. Evaluate vendor quotes based on TCO factors, including price, lead time, freight terms, material specifications, and past performance. Facilitate technical and commercial clarifications. Submit award recommendations to Project Management Teams. Report quarterly cost savings/avoidance.

    Identify Strategic Sourcing Options:
    Discover new material sources and cost-saving opportunities for stakeholder consideration. Support material budget improvement efforts. Propose viable options to the Project Teams for consideration.

    Effective Communication:
    Maintain transparent and frequent communication. Keep stakeholders updated on purchase order status and promptly address concerns.

    Vendor Relations:
    Cultivate strong vendor relationships, ensure adherence to purchase order obligations, and proactively resolve issues. Provide vendors with performance feedback.

    Cross-functional Collaboration:

    Forge collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams to foster cohesive and streamlined procurement operations.

    Continuous Improvement:
    Meet department OKRs and champion process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Implement best practices in procurement and purchase order processes. Consolidate purchase orders for efficiency gains.

    Safety and Compliance:
    Champion a culture of safety and ensure materials are handled, stored, and transported in compliance with safety regulations.

    Additional Job Duties:
    Weekly Check-ins:

    Resolve POD and invoicing discrepancies in weekly meetings with Procurement Expeditor, Procurement Coordinator, and Accounts Payable.

    Project Support:


    Attend Project Kickoff Meetings and Project Planning Meetings as required (generally projects that are more than $5M in revenue or have at least $500K in commodify materials).

    Assist with problem-solving and addressing procurement-related challenges.

    Cost Tracking :
    Monitor and evaluate cost savings and cost avoidance activities. Report metrics to relevant stakeholders on a quarterly basis.

    Support Procurement Expeditor :
    Occasionally provide material expediting support to ensure timely arrivals of necessary materials.

    Skills, Qualifications and Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance, Business Management is preferred, but not required.

    Minimum 10 years of supply chain, procurement, sales, electrical construction or electrical industry (such as supply house) experience preferred, but not required.

    A working knowledge of electrical construction materials, coupled with the ability to source alternative vendor options is preferred, but not required.

    5 years of procurement experience preferred, but not required.
    Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
    As a Senior Buyer, your contributions are pivotal to the organization's procurement strategy. You excel in optimizing TCO variables, building collaborative relationships, and ensuring efficient procurement processes. Your diligence and meticulous approach enhance operational efficiency, promotes cost savings, and supports the company's strategic objectives.

    Pay Range:
    $65,000 – 100,000 . Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
