locationsHartselle, AL, USA time typeFull time posted onPosted Yesterday job requisition idJR **While reporting to the Plant Superintendent, you are accountable for safety, quality, productivity, material handling, cost, employee relations, capital improvements and budget preparation. The job demands monitoring production performance and implementing processes, procedures, and methods to improve results in all key functional areas. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices and regulatory compliance for all production activities. Also shares responsibility for preventive maintenance, equipment repair, maintenance performance and systems, and production scheduling.**
Ensure the safety of all employees; lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
Ensure all product quality standards are met
Fulfill requirements for both internal (plant) and external (service center) stakeholders
Meet daily/weekly/monthly objectives (KPIs)
Work collaboratively with planning, shipping, and maintenance
Lead the plant in continuous improvement through the implementation the Sonoco Performance System
Lead daily operations and daily direction setting process
Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demands, to manage overtime, to minimize inventory, and to reduce costs.
Manage raw material inventory, maintain accurate inventories, while optimizing performance.
Build and maintain productive employee relationships, driving employee satisfaction. Provide direction, training, and development as needed. Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed. Recommend disciplinary action to plant manager and review disciplinary action by supervisors for effectiveness and consistency. Work with HR to address employee concerns and issues.
This position is in Hartselle, Alabama, located 30 minutes from Huntsville, Alabamas largest and fastest growing city. The Hartselle Sonoco Plant is North Americas largest producer of nail wood reels for the cable and wire industry. This is a great opportunity for a leader to collaborate with a strong team to increase our capacity and grow our market share through automation, continuous improvement, and employee engagement & development. Success in this role will set the candidate up for expanded leadership roles within the division due to the complexity and diversity of challenges. This role will be exposed and gain proficiency in project execution, leadership development, customer satisfaction while delivering bottom line results and ensuring the safety of our employees.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Business is preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles
Experience hiring and developing talent
Continuous improvement experience is required as well
