Job summary
The Sonographer III is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and performing diagnostic examinations using sonography. This position maintains medical ethics and is self-motivated to increase understanding and knowledge of the field,Responsibilities
- Performs exams as abdominal renal aorta thyroid pelvic obstetrical bio physical profiles vascular studies testicular breasts echocardiograms transesophageal echo stress echo carotid arterial venous depending on department assigned.
- Takes representative anatomical images checks all images assures required images have been acquired per protocols recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy completes the sonographer report.
- Maintains documentation of daily procedures performed in ultrasound daily log book includes patients name date of birth hospital ID number requesting physician patient location type of exam sonographers initials equipment used available for on call status rotations maintains knowledge/licensure/certification marks images for proper definition explanation performs general clerical duties maintains ultrasound rooms optimum efficiency stocks rooms with linen gel gloves supplies assisting with procedures assists other duties support operational needs department organization may be required remain campus immediately before during after severe weather disasters.
