    Description:


    The Surgical APP provides patient care in collaboration with specific surgeons face-to-face or via telehealth on communication devices such as phone or computer. Conducts surgical history/physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic/lab tests and develops plan of care. Writes prescriptions, controlled substances per Delineation of Privileges. First assists in surgery. Performs surgical procedures in the operating room under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Performs procedures in the clinic under direct or indirect supervision. The APP has synergistic relationship with the surgeon and highly technical skills increases patient safety and positive surgical outcomes. Enables the continuity of care by managing patients in the pre, intra and post operative settings. Performs inpatient rounding, consultations, wound care and bedside procedures. In the outpatient setting, manages clinics, clinic procedures, facilitates family and patient education, and participates in grand rounds. Works directly with staff, administration, patients and families to ensure quality care across the continuum as an expert in surgical practice areas. Performs on-call coverage requiring high-level decision making on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends inclusive of surgery.

    Estimated salary range for this position is $ $147860 / year depending on experience.

    Qualifications:


    Qualified Surgical APRNs will require:
    Masters Degree, Valid Florida APRN License, ANCC Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification, DEA License, RNFA Registered Nurse First Assist Certification, BLS Certification, ACLS Certification, 3 years of relevant nursing experience. Must obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges. Must be compliant with state requirements for CEUs/CMEs and licensure renewal. If APRN does not have acute care certification, refer to BHSF Policy 701 titled Educational and training requirements to be credentialed to work in an acute care setting for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN, formerly ARNP). Demonstrates proper surgical and sterile technique.

    Qualified Surgical PAs will require:
    Associated Degree (Masters Degree preferred), Valid Florida PA License, NCCPA Certification, DEA License, BLS Certification, ACLS Certification. Must obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges. Must be compliant with state requirements for CEUs/CMEs and licensure renewal. Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program completing at least one semester of surgical training. Demonstrates proper surgical and sterile technique. No experience required.
