The Telecommunications Network Engineer (Senior) performs advanced engineering and operational leadership across complex telecom/WAN environments, including managing or leading network design, implementation, evaluation, and sustainment activities. Seniors are expected to bring depth in complex environments, mentor others, and lead technically across high-impact telecom initiatives.

Location

Government facilities in Columbus, OH and New Cumberland, PA (On-site)

Senior coverage is tied to shift operations (including coverage expectations for later shifts):

Shift 2: 0800–1630
Shift 3: 1600–0030

Clearance

Must possess IT-I Critical Sensitive eligibility or Tier 5 (T5) background investigation

Essential Role and Responsibilities

Lead and execute work on complex telecom/WAN applications, spanning all phases of:

- network design,
implementation,
operational sustainment,
troubleshooting and incident resolution.
Manage or lead evaluation and cost estimation efforts for carrier services and WAN access/backbone designs.
Provide technical direction and quality review of network design/implementation work products for correctness and standards compliance.
Develop milestone status reporting and deliver presentations on network progress to stakeholders.
Support expansion and sustainment of advanced appliances/services (the PWS notes significant F5 device growth and associated sustainment requirements).
Provide knowledge transfer to Government staff and other contract personnel.

Qualifications

Experience

10+ years telecommunications experience
8+ years of which in local or wide area network environments

Preferred Certifications

DoD 8570 baseline aligned to IAT Level II (or equivalent DoD 8140 standard).
IAT-II baseline certification, plus Computing Environment (CE) + networking certification.
F5 Certification Requirement (Senior / Key Personnel impact):
F5 Certified Administrator / Certified Technical Specialist / Certified Solution Expert (more is preferable).

Education

BS/BA in IT, Cybersecurity or Engineering (or equivalent extensive experience).
