    Description

Director of Investments, Data Centers (Denver, CO)

Amp Z is a U.S.-based, power-first data center developer at the forefront of solving critical energy constraints for the hyperscale, AI, and intensive computing industries. Leveraging the profound global energy expertise of its parent company, Amp Energy, a global energy transition platform with a 16-year, 14-gigawatt track record and billions in capital deployed, Amp Z designs, builds and operates massively scalable digital campuses. These campuses feature customizable, integrated energy ecosystems that provide clients with unparalleled power reliability, choice and a transparent, strategic path towards truly sustainable operations.

Committed to transforming communities into hubs of digital innovation and partnering with utilities to enhance grid resilience, Amp Z is architecting a future of environmentally-sustainable power abundance for the digital age.

    About the role

The Director of Investments, Data Centers serves as the internal authority for capital structuring, transaction modelling, scenario analysis, and financial diligence across our growing portfolio of power-centric digital infrastructure assets.

This role functions as the internal modelling engine behind equity raises, project finance, JV structuring, and strategic negotiations. The individual will build, own, and pressure-test sophisticated Excel-based financial models that support multi-billion-dollar development programs spanning power infrastructure, onsite generation, land development, and turnkey data center delivery.

The position combines hands-on technical modelling excellence with senior-level financial judgment, providing real-time decision support to executive leadership during capital formation and strategic transactions. This is a high-impact role with direct exposure to Amp Z's CFO, CEO, and financing partners.

This role requires travel as needed. This position is located in Denver, CO although we will consider remote work arrangements.

    What you'll do

    • Build and maintain robust project-level and platform-level financial models covering power assets, onsite generation, digital infrastructure, and land development.
    • Model IRRs, levered and unlevered returns, break-even analyses, equity waterfalls, dilution impacts, and complex cap table permutations.
    • Integrate grid capacity ramp curves, interconnection timelines, capex profiles (e.g., turnkey $/MW assumptions), and financing terms into cohesive valuation frameworks.
    • Support scenario analysis for multi-tranche capital raises and phased delivery structures (pad-ready, powered shell, turnkey).
    • Develop long-range platform models supporting Amp Z's scale toward multi-GW (9+ GW) capacity.

    Capital Structure & Transaction Support

    • Lead internal modelling workstreams for equity raises, project finance, JV structures, and strategic partnerships.
    • Design and evaluate capital stack strategies across large-scale, multi-campus developments.
    • Prepare financial sensitivities and supporting materials for negotiations with investors, lenders, hyperscalers, and strategic partners.
    • Partner closely with corporate development and executive leadership on acquisitions, site expansions, and incremental capacity additions.

    Investment Analysis & Decision Support

    • Translate complex technical inputs (power availability, generation profiles, construction phasing) into financial outcomes senior leadership can act on.
    • Provide fast-turnaround analyses during live negotiations, diligence processes, and investor discussions.
    • Support underwriting of new builds, expansions, and acquisitions across Amp Z's development pipeline.
    • Contribute to the formulation and execution of Amp Z's broader financial and capital strategy.
    • Assist in evaluating customer credit profiles, lease structures, and long-term contractual economics.
    • Monitor portfolio-level performance, capital efficiency, and return metrics as assets move from development through operations.
    • Support risk identification and mitigation across financial, structural, and regulatory dimensions.
    • Tasks/Projects as requested from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • 5–12+ years of experience in financial leadership roles within infrastructure, project finance, energy, real assets, or digital infrastructure.
    • Proven mastery of Excel-based financial modelling, including models built from scratch (no template reliance).
    • Deep understanding of capital stack mechanics: senior debt, mezzanine, equity, JV structures, and multi-layer waterfalls.
    • Strong financial judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to communicate complex outputs clearly to senior stakeholders.
    • Willingness to travel as needed.

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA, CFA, or CPA a plus.
    • Experience with capex-heavy assets such as power, energy, data centers, or large-scale infrastructure (highly advantageous).

    Why Join Amp Z?

    • Rewarding mission and a unique opportunity to join a transformative company
    • Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses.
    • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) participation.
    • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
    • Retirement savings plan.
    • Generous paid time off and 13 holidays.
    • Flexible work arrangements and a commitment to work-life balance.
