    Summary

    This position is responsible for providing leadership to assure the safe, environmentally sound and cost-effective production of goods that meet or exceed customer expectations. Manages the operation of the Production area to support the above, while actively supporting and encouraging the workforce. The Production Manager is responsible for day-to-day operating performance. This position is responsible for satisfactorily achieving all production performance metrics, including safety, environmental, quality, and productivity.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provide positive leadership/direction/support/coaching to the Production personnel to achieve safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
    • Report daily, weekly, monthly status of operations to upper management.
    • Work with Site Management, Senior Staff, and members of the corporate business group to establish production goals and objectives for the site.
    • Achieve area and plant costs and profitability by developing area goals and profit improvement initiatives and utilize effective leadership to maximize employee productivity and contribution from each of the process areas.
    • Design, develop and implement programs and procedures to optimize production and continually improve manufacturing processes.
    • Interface with Engineering department as Production representative for engineering projects by providing required data and assisting in developing project schedules and incorporating these schedules into production planning.
    • Interface with Engineering with respect to capital spending budgets for the Production area. Hold others in the department accountable for costs relative to established budgets.
    • Develop and implement methods to improve productivity.
    • Ensure adherence to procedures that promote the health and welfare of all employees with the facilitys production departments.
    • Make certain that procedures and training are current and meet all requirements.
    • Ensure implementation and administration of all policies and procedures designed for the Production Department.
    • Train and develop supervisory personnel to provide management depth and skill base for efficient site operation.
    • Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
    • Recognize the successful efforts of employees to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve work processes.
    • Manage the staff to ensure timely production within the standards of safety, environmental, quality, cost and production policy and procedure guidelines.

    • Ability to resolve conflicts through problem resolution skills.

    Education/Experience

    • Bachelors Degree in chemical or mechanical engineering, preferred.
    • Plant Manufacturing Environment of 5 years
    • Chemical Manufacturing experience with min of 2 years
    • Lean manufacturing exposure is a plus.
    • Previous Supervisory experience required.
