    Assistant or Associate Professor of CVI Position Details

    The University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will have expertise in Cardiomyopathy and Vascular Injury (CVI) with research focus areas including molecular mechanisms of cardiomyopathy and vascular injury, gene therapy approaches to treat cardiovascular disease, microvascular function in health and disease, circulating biomarkers for cardiovascular risk prediction, computational modeling of cardiovascular biomechanics, cardiovascular outcomes following COVID-19 infection.

    The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. Our college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct innovative and impactful research focused on CVI-related diseases.
    • Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in veterinary medicine, as well as mentor students in research projects.
    • Develop extramurally funded research programs, collaborate with colleagues across disciplines, and participate in service activities for the department and university.

    Requirements

    • Ph.D. degree in Veterinary Sciences, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
    • Prior experience in a research-intensive academic environment, including teaching and mentoring students.
    • Demonstrated potential for developing an independent, externally-funded research program.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Postdoctoral research experience in academia or industry.
    • Familiarity with clinical and translational research, grant writing, and publication record.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
