    Job Summary:


    The Senior Accountant, Intermodal Finance, is responsible for providing significant individual contributions that provide useful financial information for decision makers within the Intermodal Business Unit.

    While this includes basic tasks such as preparing journal entries, reconciliations, statistics, reports, and ad hoc assignments, the Senior Accountant is also expected to demonstrate intermediate skills in the areas of process creation, process improvement, risk assessment, project management, forecasts and budgets, communication of status and deliverables, and as needed, supervision and review of staff work.


    Job Description:

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform accounting functions for the organization, including month-end close, general record keeping, management reporting, and assisting with the review of work performed by junior staff.
    • Assist management with delegation of tasks to junior staff as appropriate to aid in their development and satisfy the needs of the organization.
    • Maintain complete and accurate records of the organization's financial activity in accordance with GAAP, organizational standards, and in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and similar regulatory requirements.
    • Assist management with preparing monthly forecasts, comparing actuals to forecast and budget, and assisting with researching variances and developing commentary.
    • Support the preparation of annual operating budgets with and for various departments to support the organization's expense management goals.
    • Support the creation of management reports and presentations on financial performance for cost centers and the business unit.
    • Assist with analysis and review of the organization's financial performance by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial and statistical data.
    • Analyze financial trends and key metrics and provide management with findings and recommendations.
    • Document accounting and financial processes and workflows and identify risks and recommendations.
    • Create, update, and maintain training materials and job aides.
    • Create and utilize automated tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting of financial results.


    Qualifications:

    Minimum

    Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience or training with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Excel.
    • Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work both individually, as a team, and cross-functionally within the organization.
    • Basic deductive reasoning skills with ability to interpret data sets and provide actionable insights.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Act with integrity, objectivity, and due professional care.
    Preferred

    Qualifications:


    • Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, etc., or progress toward a designation.
    • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience or training with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
    • Knowledge of SQL and data management tools (QMF, SQL Server, TOAD, Access).

    Compensation:


    Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

    This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
