    FunctionsEngineer III will develop mechanical systems design and perform design integration for government or commercial ship design programs.

    Engineer III will work independently and with other engineers within the department, procurement, and other engineering disciplines, as well as with Project Management.

    Research and analysis functions may include project evaluation and monitoring, the ability to produce and analyze calculations, maintaining compliance with government regulations, and performing any data analysis relevant to project tasks.

    Additional duties for Engineer III may include scoping change, determining the impact on design documentation, creating, or editing design drawings using AutoCAD, spreadsheet maintenance, discipline-specific calculations, etc.

    Engineer III will work closely with team members to:

    Review documents, piping and HVAC diagrams, mechanical systems, equipment design and functions and performance analysesCoordinate with project stakeholders to ensure quality deliverables are submitted in accordance with the Contract requirements.

    Production of detailed plans of action and deficiency reports supporting the project objectives and schedulesAssist with construction planning support activities.

    Assist in the integration of the design in Production and work closely with shipyard personnel.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
    Supervisory ResponsibilitiesMay have team leadership responsibilities over employees. Will have mentorship responsibilities over junior employees.

    Reporting RelationshipThis position will report to Mechanical Engineering Department ManagerJob RequirementsQualificationsEducation/Experience:

    Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Marine EngineeringRequiredHave more than 15 years of experience in either commercial marine or government shipbuilding programsHave superior analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Be capable of working independently to accomplish assigned tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
    Be capable of checking other engineers' work and directing other engineers' activities.
    Ability to interpret contract requirements and specifications. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD. Capable of learning department-specific software programs to assist in various analysesCitizenship: U.S. Citizenship or a Permanent Resident Card is required.

    DesiredThe following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience are preferred but not required:
    Experience with CDRL Development Experience with ABS NVR is highly desired.
