**Description**

**Summary:**

The Shipping and Receiving Associate 1- Material Handler performs several tasks in support of the timely and accurate distribution of Nortek Security and Control (NSC) products. Tasks include but are not limited to picking of customer orders throughout the warehouse and handling of boxes & pallets in the staging areas. Nortek offers forklift training for interested employees.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

Picking orders for shipment to customers

Safely maneuvering a cart or pallet jack through limited space areas

Verifying part number and counts of products being shipped

Handling of product in an efficient, accurate, and safe manner

Handling and loading boxes carefully onto the conveyor line or into the trailer

Checking or counting products for accuracy and/or damage

Understand, support, and execute all work in a safe manner using the established procedures

Performs work following department policies and standards

Perform other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor

Operating specific material handling equipment safely and efficiently as required

**Knowledge Skills and Abilities:**

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

One (1) year related experience involved in performing work in a warehouse

Strong attention to detail and written/verbal communication skills

Ability to either stand or sit for extended periods

Ability to bend, push, pull, reach, grab, turn, twist, and/or stoop

Ability to grab small parts or hand tools with hands

**Physical Requirements:**

Essential functions of this job require the following minimal physical demands. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable the individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Vision and depth perception suitable for use of utilizing machinery and/or a computer

Manual dexterity suitable for use of utilizing machinery

Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permits the employee to work in a warehouse

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 lbs

Ability to stand up to 100% of the time comfortably, with or without reasonable accommodation
