    THE OPPORTUNITY:

    As the


    HESS Lead (Health, Environment, Safety & Security) , you will have the ability to develop and implement occupational health and safety programs to ensure the wellbeing of employees, contractors and visitors throughout the organization.

    Leading compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including OSHA, DOT, and partnership with the Transtar SLT/ELT. This is a critical role responsible for the documentation and investigation for workplace accidents or injuries. Strong partnership with Human Resources to improve workplace hazards and eliminate risks.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Develop and implement occupational health and safety programs to educate and train employees on workplace safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for toxins, equipment, and other materials.
    • Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by physical and ergonomic factors.
    • Establish and monitor safety goals through continual communication and reporting to drive safety culture improvements.
    • Conduct inspections and maintains accident databases for team regarding illness, injury and training focusing on near misses and continuous improvement efforts. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including OSHA.
    • Document and investigate accidents or injuries. Partners with HR to provide records or evidence as required during lawsuits or legal proceedings, and implements corrective measures meant to reduce future risk.
    • Develops, delivers, and tracks participation in health and safety related training.

    • New Driver Certifications, Incident Investigations, Emergency and Severe Weather Response Programs, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program, Powered Industrial Truck Program Training
    • Proactively manage workplace safety and accident prevention by utilizing Job Hazard Analysis, accident analysis, inspections and safety education and training.
    • Own and manage safety protocols, initiatives, and processes covered under the Infectious Disease Policy. This includes the oversight of COVID-19 related tracking reporting, and case management in partnership with HR.
    • Prepares and conducts safety meetings, quarterly reporting and program training for all corporate and distribution locations. Training approach to include and conduct training to remote employee population.

    • Partner with HR team as lead for employee regarding work fit/ fit for duty program ensuring consistent programming for all work locations.
    • Responsible for preparing and submitting reports including, but not limited to required accident reports, OSHA logs, Sustainability reporting, EPA and DOT.
    • Partner with HR for the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time and work with health care provider to ensure balanced care.
    • Responsible for maintaining and updating all safety records, SOP's and written programs.

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS:


    • BA in Business Management or Administration
    • 3 Years of work experience in a Safety related role in a distribution or industrial environmental

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


    • BA in Occupational Safety from an accredited College or University
    • 5 Years of safety experience and/or training in an industrial of DC environment
    • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and HAZMAT regulations

    SKILLS & ABILITIES:


    • Ability to identify, analyze and install corrections to hazards and regulation gaps
    • History of working with cross-functional teams while project managing strategic initiatives
    • Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate at various levels of the organization; must be able to incorporate the needs and recommendations of local DC team members
    • Experience with process documentation and creating training programs
