    ABOUT THE POSITION

    Sun Valley Academy is hiring ELD Specialists for the school year. The ELD
    Specialist ensures measurable improvement in and availability of instructional practices,
    research, and assessment systems that contribute to the instructional achievement for
    English Language Learners (ELLs). The successful candidate will also collaborate with
    SVA leadership to develop an understanding of effective ELL programming, English
    Language Development instructional practices, and effective content area scaffolding
    techniques.

    CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide academic instruction aligned with Arizona State Standards
    • Ensures measurable improvement in, and availability of instructional practices,

    research, and assessment systems that contribute to the instructional
    achievement for English Language Learners (ELLs).

    • The successful candidate will also collaborate with SVA leadership to develop an

    understanding of effective ELL programming, English Language Development
    instructional practices, and effective content area scaffolding techniques.

    • Adjust curriculum resources and tools that assist content teachers in supporting

    student mastery of content-specific standards and English Language Proficiency
    (ELP) standards.

    • Collaborate with team members to increase knowledge of effective ELL practices

    in all content area instruction and intervention by meeting in small groups, one-on-one consultation, and professional development sessions.

    • Develop and facilitate ongoing, differentiated professional development for ELD

    practitioners, general education teachers, administrators, and special service
    providers regarding best practices in English language development, scaffolded
    instruction, SVA initiatives, and assessments.

    • Collaborate with SPED team to ensure equitable programming and continued

    academic progress for ELLs with specialized learning needs.

    • Provide targeted and integrated ELD lessons in small group settings.
    • Support schools with identification, placement, and annual progress monitoring of

    ELL language development.

    • Assist in data collection and analysis to monitor ELD programming and student

    academic success during and after receiving ELD services.

    • Respond to teacher, school, parent, and community needs including informal

    requests regarding policies, procedures, and programming for ELL students.

    • Conduct program reviews, inform administrators and teachers about changes,

    best first instruction in the delivery, pacing, and implementation of ELL resources
    and services.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related subject
    • Arizona Teaching Certification or reciprocal Out-of-State Certification
    • Arizona Structured English Immersion or Bilingual Language Endorsement
    • Five (5) years' experience teaching, with a demonstrated record of successfully

    impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have
    the greatest needs is desired

    • Fingerprint Clearance Card
