    Were looking for a business consultant to join our ranks.

    Commonwealths Practice Management department is searching for a consultant to work with our large, multi-advisor firms as part of our enterprise consulting team.

    The ideal candidate brings creative problem solving, energy and passion, technical expertise, and emotional intelligence.


    Practice Management offers consulting and programs to support our affiliated financial advisors in their role as business owners, helping them build thriving and enduring firms.

    The department focuses on strategic planning, growth strategies, mergers and acquisitions, talent management, and enterprise design.


    The enterprise consulting team leads complex engagements on topics such as transforming business and organizational structures, achieving scale, expanding ownership, creating development pathways, and financial management mastery.


    They must be able to blend business and finance acumen with the interpersonal skills necessary to effectively work in a client-facing role.

    Key Responsibilities
    Deliver consultations with multi-advisor firms to help them determine the best business model to achieve their long-term goals, helping them drive growth, build scale, and create an enduring legacy
    Engage with Commonwealths largest and most complex enterprise clients, addressing a broad range of factors related to organizational structure, leadership roles, infrastructure, financial management, and compensation systems
    Support ensemble transformation to equity-based ownership structures by creating pro forma financial models, mapping compensation systems, determining partnership criteria, and designing frameworks to add and exit partners
    Help firms put financial structures in place to properly track, monitor, and benchmark financial performance and identify actionable implications
    Deliver consultations with advisors on scaling their businesses, introducing a tiered service matrix, and maximizing their time to achieve growth
    Help firms navigate difficult team dynamics and productively address conflict
    Collaborate extensively with the other Practice Management consulting teams to provide holistic support for all phases of the business life cycle
    Lead and support projects to develop value-added tools and resources for advisors to leverage in their businesses
    Present at Practice Management programs and Commonwealth conferences

    Core Strengths and Skills
    Deep understanding of the issues facing small business owners
    Ability to clearly communicate nuanced concepts and navigate sometimes complex interpersonal dynamics.
    Strong Excel modeling, analytical and creative problem-solving skills
    Familiarity with managerial accounting concepts and the ability to read and interpret financial statements
    Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-demand, dynamic environment
    Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure
    Ability to work as both a collaborative team member and an individual contributor
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Excellent listening and follow-up skills

    Additional skills and knowledge
    8+ years of experience working with financial advisors, management consulting experience, or working in small business management
    Bachelors degree required, MBA or specialized Masters degree preferred
