    Description


    Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations, the preparation, analysis, and distribution of financial statements.

    Assist with Banking activities like setting up new accounts, adding new signatures, bank reconciling items, banking fees, positive pay exceptions, etc.

    Ensure that all deliverables comply with regulatory guidance and professional standards. Provide assistance to the Accounting Manager with external audit, annual budgets, and annual tax compliance. Assist with special projects assigned by management.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Accounting:
    Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts to document business transactions. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position. Back-up month-end duties assigned to other accounting team members.

    Reporting & Analysis:
    Assists in preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets, and narratives, including "Budget vs. Actual" variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
    Assist with completion of the quarterly and annual bank compliance filings; preparation of assigned Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements.

    Audits & Tax Compliance:
    Assist with annual external audit and tax compliance. Complete requested materials. Assist in preparing assigned schedules for the annual and interim audit.

    Systems:


    Assist with testing of and receive final approval for system reports required for management, financial reporting, and general ledger reconciliations.


    Other:
    Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedures.
    Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
    Maintain project log for Senior Accountant position.
    Contribute to department and organization through special projects as assigned.

    REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    Strong analytical and accounting skills.
    Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint or similar programs.
    Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger and financial reporting. NetSuite, Sage/MAS500 and Prophix preferred.
    Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
    Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.

    The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product.

    The individual will work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company.

    EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


    Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Accounting; and three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Language Skills:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and technical guides. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

    Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

    Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical form.

    Other Skills and Abilities:
    Must have high attention to detail and demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to manage small work groups. Skilled in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

    Must possess a strong background and fluency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Access and knowledge of internet and uses.
