Position Summary:
Responsible for functioning as a technical assistant and practice partner with the registered nurse. Performs delegated nursing functions that are moderately complex patient care duties and carries out plans formulated by licensed or certified professional staff. Responsible for performing routine unit assignments and paraprofessional patient care duties such as taking vital signs, performing electrocardiograms, observing monitors and identifying deviation from normal conditions
Requirements:
Work requires six months of previous experience as a PCT, patient aide or CNA/GNA or currently enrolled in a nursing program or has completed basic technician training.
Education:
No minimum education requirement.
Licensure/Certification:
Requires certification by the Maryland Board of Nursing as a Certified Nursing Assistant or higher recognized nursing license.
BLS
Annual certification in CPR is required.
Knowledge/Skills:
Work requires the analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situation in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
Work requires the ability to exchange information on factual matter, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain medical center policies and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or medical center employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.
