    Cash Applications Specialist

    Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Cash Applications Specialist to be resident in our Chicago office. This position supports day to day functional operations of the accounts receivable area for the Finance Department. The Cash Applications Specialist is responsible for applying all cash received on daily basis, researching and analyzing issues within the cash application process, and assisting with special requests as received. This position requires a level of independent thinking and reviewing requests in carrying out job responsibilities.

    Responsibilities

  • Post daily receipts (wires/achs/checks) on a timely basis in order to ensure accurate maintenance of accounts receivable balances
  • Facilitate communications with Firm clients, attorneys, secretaries, client account representatives, and outer office personnel to resolve application related issues
  • Analyze client ledger records to ensure proper allocations have occurred so that Firm A/R reports are accurate
  • Process credit card charges and monitor payment mailboxes for advices/application instructions
  • Maintain functional knowledge of the Elite billing module in order to communicate effectively with billing personnel regarding various options used to customize billing and receipt application
  • Develop working relationship with the Firm's bank contacts to research issues
  • Handle time-sensitive audit requests and see them to completion
  • Identify disputed items and recommend account adjustments to clear such items from client accounts
  • Ad hoc reporting as requested
  • Other duties may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position
  • Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance a plus
  • 5+ years of cash application experience
  • Proficient in all discipline areas: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Accounting
  • Fluency in issue resolution
  • Proficient in excel, knowledge of 3e (required)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize assignments
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, and work well under pressure
