    Position Overview

    We are currently seeking a skilled Finance Contracts Specialist with in-depth knowledge of accounting principles of cost accounting and financial and data analysis to conduct studies that provide detailed cost, trend, and projection information to join our dynamic Office of Development team. The Finance Contracts Specialist will play a crucial role in managing our contractual agreements, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and optimizing financial outcomes for the company.

    Responsibilities


    • Applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies that provide detailed cost information. Records cost data for use by management in controlling expenditures and analyzes the impact on the organization. Prepares and analyzes budgets and monitors results to identify trends.


    • Oversees the administration of contracts from creating a request for proposal to the contract execution, including contract dates, expiration and deadlines. Oversees activities are conducted according to the policies and procedures. Examines and monitors contractual agreements for the department's programs and related activities. Supports pre-award and post-award and closeout phases activities including timely processing and tracking contract administration related actions.


    • develops and administers organizational performance measurement procedures and systems designed to improve internal control and facilitate effective management decisions. Develops processes and metrics for billing and analysis.


    • Ensures proper accounting for all transactions within the accounting system. Identifies and resolves reconciliation issues. Creates the department's monthly close reporting.


    • Develops, implements, and maintains special projects including dashboards, expense and revenue explanations, to provide metrics and analysis of costs, trends, allocations, and reporting to the executive level.


    • Supports department-wide budgeting, forecasting updates, and related analysis.


    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Job Competencies:

    Knowledge of: Accounting principles and financial analysis techniques; cost accounting principles and cost analysis methodologies; budgeting and forecasting processes; contract law and regulations; relevant accounting software and data analysis tools.

    Skill in: Financial analysis, reporting, and contract review; project management; communicating and building rapport with stakeholders at all levels; collaborating with cross-departmental stakeholders to create streamlined and efficient budgets and reports; attention to detail and accuracy; presenting financial budgets or reports to c-suite leadership.

    Ability to: Identify and resolve complex financial issues; think critically and make sound financial recommendations; meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality; work effectively under pressure; communicate complex financial concepts to various audiences.

    Education

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial analysis or contracts management.
    • Must pass a criminal history background check.

    Preferences: Experience in creating complex budgets with multiple budget centers; experience with contract reviews and negotiation.

    Licenses

    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
