Summary:
To qualify for this role, your resume should demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to carry out the responsibilities of the specific position you are interested in.
Experience includes both paid and unpaid activities, such as volunteer work for programs like Peace Corps or AmeriCorps, and other organizations of a professional, philanthropic, religious, or community nature.
All qualifying experience, including part-time and volunteer work, will be taken into account.It is important to clearly outline the duties and hours worked per week for each position held.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited school in the United States or Canada.
The degree must have been accredited by recognized bodies at the time of completion.
Degree from Foreign Medical School:
A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must reflect education and medical knowledge on par with accredited schools in the United States.
Evidence of equivalence can be shown through certifications from relevant bodies.
Medical Licensing Examination Licensure:
applicants must hold a current, active, unrestricted license as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory
Graduate Training:
After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have completed at least 1 year of supervised clinical experience in a hospital or accredited institution.
Training programs must be approved by recognized accrediting bodies.
Descriptions of these programs are provided below.Internship Programs offer comprehensive clinical practice under supervision, covering various medical areas like internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics.
Residency Programs provide specialized medical training in a hospital or institution accredited by relevant bodies.
A Fellowship program offers advanced training in a medical specialty in a hospital or institution accredited in the United States.
GS-1- Additional Requirements:
Four (4) years of graduate training in the specialty of the position or equivalent experience and training are required.
Final Year Residents:
Applications are welcome from final year residents expected to complete their training within the next 12 months.
These applicants must show evidence of meeting all position requirements before starting.Selective Placement Factor:
In addition to basic requirements, Board Certification or eligibility in the specialty/subspecialty is essential for this position.
