    BASIC FUNCTION:

    The Community and Business Data Analyst designs and carries out data gathering and reporting to meet the objectives of the Greater Des Moines Partnership by performing data analysis to support overall organizational metrics, area of work initiatives and promotion of The Partnership's 11-county service area. The role contributes to work that drives economic development and business and population growth in Greater Des Moines (DSM).

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Assists VP of Research with community and economic development data collection and analysis, including market research, community comparisons, business intelligence and data visualization.
    • Identifies, develops, and manages information to support internal and external project needs (such as responding to business development RFIs) that drive economic growth in DSM.
    • Manages and improves existing reporting and CRM
    • Identifies and proactively communicates opportunities to leverage data to support decision making and support organization revenue generation opportunities.
    • Conducts and facilitates (and educates and trains on) analyses, issues identification, organizational risk assessment, and decision-making processes.
    • Provides consulting and analytic services to leadership.
    • Reviews and defines company data assets and needs to support the organization, Investors and Affiliates, including customer relationship management tools, subscriptions and more. (Examples include: , Gazelle, Salesforce, ChamberMaster, Career Center.)
    • Gathers data from areas of work to support organization metric reporting.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, business analytics, economics, management, or related field or equivalent related experience.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Three+ years of economic, business development or data analysis or related experience, including proficiency with analytical software or equivalent related education.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Proficiency in Web-based research methods
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Familiarity with GIS mapping software
    • Familiarity with basic statistical techniques
    • Analytical knowledge of data
    • Proficiency in conducting big data analysis
    • Familiarity with developing data models
    • Familiarity with developing algorithms
    • Proficiency in Business analysis
    • Business process modeling-enterprise to department level
    • Process oriented with proven documentation skills
    • Proficiency in using data to make a business case and shape marketing strategies
