Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring surgical and telemetry experience, valid VA or compact RN license, and proficiency with lab draws.

Responsibilities

• Position is on a 24-bed surgical Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes surgical tele and med tele cases such as urology, renal, amputations, podiatry, and general surgery
• No bariatric cases and non-critical drips only
• Bedside shift report is required and surgeon orders can be very specific
• Ratio is typically 1:5-6, subject to change depending on facility needs
• Work schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), including every other weekend and major holidays
• Weekend blocked scheduling (Fri/Sat/Sun) is permitted; no other blocked scheduling guaranteed
• Tele techs and patient care techs are present for support
• Navy blue, white, or any combination of these colors are acceptable for scrubs
• Candidates must not live within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Passing an EKG exam at orientation is required
• Primary responsibilities include managing surgical and telemetry patients, performing lab draws, and participating in bedside shift reports
• Care is coordinated with tele techs, patient care techs, and other interdisciplinary team members
• Patient population may fluctuate between surgical and medical telemetry as beds are available
• No high flow oxygen or critical drips are utilized
• Candidates must adhere to specified scrub color guidelines
• Study guide for EKG test will be provided prior to orientation
• Holiday and weekend coverage are expectations of the role

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum one year of RN experience, including surgical and telemetry experience
• Must be proficient with lab draws
• Must pass EKG exam at orientation with two attempts available
• Must be willing to work every other weekend and major holidays
