    Hogan Lovells is a leading global law firm, providing business-oriented legal advice and high-quality service across its breadth of practices to clients around the world. Our growing, dynamic Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) department is looking for the right candidate to serve as the Marketing and Business Development Manager for our (i) International Arbitration practice (IA) which sits within our Litigation, Arbitration and Employment (LAE) practice and our (ii) New York Office, which is a strategic growth priority for the firm.

    This position will support the marketing activities of both the International Arbitration practice globally and the New York office across varying markets and clients through framing and driving marketing programs and business development activities and programs that engage clients and drive revenue. The M&BD manager will work in our New York Office as part of a global team, alongside colleagues based in Hong Kong, London, Munich, New York, and Washington D.C. and will report into the Director of M&BD for the LAE Americas practice and the Senior M&BD Manager in London. The M&BD Manager will actively participate in learning about the firm's service offerings, lawyers, and clients to lead initiatives based on their enhanced knowledge of our clients, their business needs, the competitive landscape of both International Arbitration practices and the New York Office and firm capabilities. They will be expected to build strong working relationships with Practice Group leadership as well as New York office leadership and other partners to develop and execute and manage a range of business development and marketing initiatives aligned with the firm's strategic priorities. In addition to working closing with M&BD for the LAE Americas, they will also be expected to work with M&BD for Corporate & Finance (C&F) and with M&BD Americas teams for Global Regulatory and Intellectual Property, Media & Technology insofar as they relate to the New York office's marketing and business development efforts.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with IA Steering Group to develop and implement marketing goals, initiatives, and strategies to support business development.
    • Together with IA Steering Group, create and implement strategic plans and budgets.
    • Help create strategy for and manage responses to RFPs, customized pitches, and business development presentations.
    • Evaluate practice group strengths and conduct research on existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and industry or market trends to aid in the development of marketing plans, pitches, presentations, and proposals.
    • Identify cross-selling opportunities with existing practice group clients and other firm clients and work with global, national, and regional M&BD colleagues and attorneys to expand client relationships.
    • Gather and maintain information on practice group experience credentials for inclusion in marketing collateral, optimizing use of firm technology.
    • Work with the firm's communications team to build profile for the practice and industry sector (internally and, as appropriate, externally) by publicizing victories, news items, events, and relevant articles.
    • Research marketing initiatives of other regional and global law firms and related practices, including seminars, advertisements, brochures, and proposals.
    • Accumulate knowledge of industry, legal, and business publications to remain aware of trends that may impact the firm's practice and to identify opportunities for promoting the practice.
    • Provide support and guidance on other strategic business development and promotional initiatives as needed.
    • Work with the recruiting department in connection with the integration of lateral partners and counsel. Assist these attorneys and certain other key attorneys in developing personal business development plans.
    • Produce and manage seminars, receptions, and other marketing-oriented events and activities, including, but not limited to event promotion, development of invitations and other client communications, concept development, and vendor selection.
    • Create and regularly update all web and print marketing collateral, including brochures, practice group descriptions, case lists, and biographies.
    • Work with practice group attorneys in the development and production of internal and client newsletters, and regularly evaluate the need for these types of communications.
    • In coordination with the communications team, evaluate sponsorships and opportunities to participate in various directories. Negotiate agreements and manage participation in sponsorships and directories to ensure that the firm receives the maximum return on its investment.
    • Work with practice group leaders to plan practice meetings and retreats and advise practice leaders regarding steps needed to achieve group goals.
    NEW YORK OFFICE RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Serve as a strategic resource for the firm's practice groups, industry groups, and attorneys throughout the New York office by supporting their efforts to manage existing relationships and develop new relationships while identifying opportunities for implementing new client relationships and business development initiatives.
    • Conduct research and analyze New York market intelligence as well as industry and client data to identify developments and trends that may offer emerging new opportunities.
    • Facilitate the planning, implementation, and follow-up of new business or cross-marketing opportunities.
    • Provide strategic support and planning for New York based marketing and business development activities.
    • Recommend and promote the involvement of New York attorneys and M&BD team members in professional organizations that will enhance the visibility of the lawyers and the firm in relevant practice/industry platforms.
    • Build trusted working relationships with attorneys, identifying potential opportunities, developing strategy, action plans, and budgets, and driving discussion around ongoing efforts.
    • Support expansion of client relationships by coordinating and collaborating across practice groups and offices.
    SUPERVISORY REPSONSIBILITIES
    • Collaborate with other global, national, and regional marketing and business development team members.
    QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED SKILLS
    • Well-versed with demonstrated success in marketing and business development best practices.
    • Strong critical thinker able to devise data-driven marketing and business development strategies.
    • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
    • Experience working independently, as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.
    • Project and team management experience.
    • Effective interpersonal and research skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and an exacting attention to detail in all work product.
    • Excellent research skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
    • Seven (7)+ years of relevant experience preferred, preferably in a legal or similar professional services industry within New York.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Spanish language would be an asset but is not required.
    HOURS

    Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including one hour for lunch. Must be flexible to work additional hours.

    This job description sets forth the authorities and responsibilities of this position and may be changed from time to time as shall be determined.

    The annualized salary range for this position is $131,650 to $193,050 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm's fringe benefits as they currently exists.
