PAY GRADE: 89
SALARY:
Begins at $122,340/Year with comprehensive benefits package
NEW OPPORTUNITY: Sampson County is seeking a full-time County Attorney.
Reporting to the Board of Commissioners and working closely with the County leadership team to provide legal counsel and support, duties include:
advise County officials, department directors, and other employees on issues with legal implications; negotiate contracts and agreements; examine titles of land to be acquired by the County; litigate on behalf of the County in trial and appellate courts; regularly attend meetings of the Board of Commissioners and Planning Board; draft County ordinances and develop policies; draw up resolutions and proclamations for Board approval; interpret Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances; and other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Expectations include graduation from an accredited school of law with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the practice of law and licensed to practice law in North Carolina. Experience in working for local government is highly desired.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a valid North Carolina driver's license, good standing with the North Carolina State Bar, and agreement to respond in accordance with pre-identified emergency response assignment.
