About the Role:
As a part time Catering Server at Kettering University, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional food service experiences for a diverse range of campus events, including academic functions, conferences, and social gatherings. Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality will be paramount in your daily activities. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to creating memorable and seamless dining experiences that reflect positively on Kettering University's commitment to excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in catering, food service, or a related hospitality role.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights as required.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in food handling or culinary arts.
- Experience working in a university or large institutional catering environment.
- Familiarity with special dietary needs such as vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-sensitive menus.
- Proficiency in inventory management and event coordination software.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure during high-volume events.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and present a variety of food items according to established recipes and event specifications.
- Coordinate with event planners and clients to understand catering needs, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
- Set up catering stations, buffet lines, and dining areas in a professional and appealing manner.
- Manage inventory and ensure all food supplies are fresh, properly stored, and replenished as needed.
- Adhere strictly to food safety regulations and sanitation standards throughout all stages of food handling.
- Assist with cleanup and breakdown of catering setups promptly after events conclude.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing guest inquiries and resolving any issues during events.
Skills:
The required skills such as food preparation, safety compliance, and customer service are essential for ensuring that all catering events meet quality and safety standards while satisfying client expectations. Effective communication skills enable you to coordinate seamlessly with event planners and respond promptly to guest needs, enhancing the overall experience. Preferred skills like knowledge of specialized diets and experience with event software allow you to customize services and streamline operations, adding value to the catering team.
