Sr Staff Engineer, Data Engineering

Location:
San Francisco (Embarcadero) or Menlo Park (San Hill Road) – MUST BE ONSITE 4 DAYS A WEEK.

Headquartered in Menlo Park, this Venture Capital firm is one of the leading later-stage VC firms investing in both enterprise and consumer technology companies.

They are in the process of building out their data analytics capabilities to better service their portfolio companies with robust market insights.

Platform / Stack:
You will work with technologies that include Python, AWS and Snowflake.

Compensation Expectation

:
$200,000 – $250,000


What You'll Do As a Staff Engineer:
Co-lead the firm's AI/ML initiatives
Communicate with stakeholders to understand business problems and design features to solve them
Become a subject matter expert on the firm's business and its data
Lead the implementation and development of the firm's data warehouse
Develop and enhance the firm's custom sourcing application
Build data pipelines from various data sources and maintain the data warehouse
Build data visualizations and prepare reports to present to the investment team and leadership

Qualifications

You could be a great fit if you have:

10+ years of experience in software engineering
6+ years of experience in data engineering and architecting data centric solutions
Proven self-starter, highly motivated, detail-oriented, and entrepreneurial
Expertise in multiple programming languages (Python, Ruby, Go, etc.)
Expertise in SQL databases (Postgres, etc.)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and analyze large amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets
Experience working, developing, and integrating AI/LLM tools into various applications/platforms
Experience working with BI tools (Omni, Sigma, etc.) or notebooks (Observable, Hex, etc.)
