    Join the Electrified Propulsion Management and Efficiency department at Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) in Superior Township, MI. Our team's goal is to enhance Hyundai/KIA/Genesis products for the North American market by boosting propulsion system efficiency and performance.

    About the Role

    We are hiring a Vehicle Emissions and OBD Calibration Engineer to join our Propulsion System Management and Integration team. This team handles projects related to engine and electrified propulsion management system testing and validation, as well as exploring new technologies to enhance propulsion performance.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Conduct Engine Management System (EMS) mapping and validation
    • Calibrate EMS/OBD systems and perform validation tests even in extreme conditions
    • Develop new technologies to improve emission control and reduce costs
    • Coordinate and track test and development plans, project status reports, and lead project activities
    • Offer technical support for pre-production and post-production issues
    • Create and deliver presentations on project milestones
    • Assist with EMS manufacturing, quality improvement, and certification
    • Compare and analyze competitor ICE/hybrid vehicles
    • Travel domestically and internationally when necessary

    Key Skills and Experience

    • Demonstrated excellence in vehicle testing and calibration
    • Interpret regulations and create test procedures
    • Knowledge of calibration tuning process
    • Experience in debugging hardware and software issues
    • Familiarity with vehicle communication network systems
    • Ability to select and operate data acquisition systems
    • Understanding of CARB and EPA Vehicle Emissions/OBD Regulations
    • Technical expertise in vehicle/engine control systems
    • Extensive knowledge of internal combustion engines and emissions systems
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior

    Minimum Requirements

    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
    • 2+ years of calibration experience
    • Knowledge of propulsion systems and hybrid vehicles
    • Experience in emission testing and calibration
    • Proficiency in vehicle communication networks and data acquisition systems
    • Understanding of vehicle emission regulations
    • Effective communication skills
    • Valid Driver's License

    Preferred Qualifications

    • M.S. in related field
    • 4+ years of emission development experience
    • Experience with vehicle PM emission mitigation
    • Calibration experience for mass production
    • Knowledge of calibration optimization techniques
    • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
