    JOB TITLE: Rehabilitation Technician (C-NA PREFERRED)

    DEPARTMENT: Rehabilitation Services

    REPORTS TO: Rehabilitation Services Director

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Rehab Tech is responsible for the office duties, and cleaning tasks required to maintain an orderly working environment in the Rehabilitation Services Dept. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit. Must identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the Rehabilitation Services policies and procedures.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

    Wyoming CNA licensure preferred.

    EXPERIENCE

    Clerical experience is preferred but not required.

    Direct patient experience is preferred.

    SKILLS

    Competent typist, experience in shorthand, computer skills and knowledge of business machines. Proficient in grammar, punctuation, and proper business form. Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Clerical perception is necessary to assist with computerized records, written records and rehab charges. Motor coordination and finger dexterity are most important when assisting with patient treatments and handling therapeutic equipment.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Follows policies and procedures at Cody Regional Health.
      • Maintains confidentiality and HIPPA regulations, upholds patient rights and freedoms.
      • Attends and contributes as appropriate to mandatory education, departmental staff meetings, continuing education, and other in-services.
      • Knows and follows policies relating to infection control.
      • Conforms to all other policies and procedures of the facility.
    • Responsible for daily communications.
      • Answers telephone in a courteous manner, takes messages and refers calls when necessary.
      • Open and sort mail, distribute accordingly.
      • Greets, directs and give non-professional information to patients, visitors and other personnel.
    • Responsible for scheduling of patients.
      • Inpatient
      • LTCC
      • Outpatient at CRH
    • Sets up and maintains patient charts.
      • Receives patient information, and assures all documents are placed in the chart signed.
      • Assist with registering patients when needed.
      • Maintains charts with current prescriptions and/or progress notes.
      • Sends letters and/or questionnaires to discharged patients as needed.
      • Telephones patients for no-shows, cancellations or to check status.
    • Responsible for daily billing.
      • Is competent to operate computer system for daily billing.
    • Assists Director/Therapists with routine documentation.
      • Assists with routine correspondence.
      • Routes physician correspondence.
    • Performs allowed patient care activities under the supervision of the 'Therapist" (Physical/Occupation Therapist, Physical Occupational Therapist Assistant or Speech Therapist).
      • Assists with established exercise and modality programs following protocols and precautions.
      • Assist therapist with functional transfers and ADL tasks as needed.
      • Applies modalities in a safe manner, following departmental policies.
      • Assists therapists with brace/crutch/walker fittings and adjustments.
      • Obtains vital signs (pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, O sat) as requested by therapists.
      • Demonstrates awareness of patient/family need for emotional support. Demonstrates empathy.
      • Reports to therapist any physical or behavior changes or concerns from patients.
      • Obtains equipment and items needed for treatment sessions.
      • Sets up overhead frames, trapeze bars, assists with Bucks traction and CPM set-ups.
    • Maintains clean and safe environment.
      • Maintains atmosphere of privacy and respect for patients and their belongings.
      • Changes linen after each patient and returns equipment to designated areas in an orderly fashion.
      • Cleans and services equipment per cleaning schedule and departmental policies.
      • Cleans and maintains whirlpools as per departmental policies.
      • Performs material handling, patient transfers and transport with safe and appropriate techniques.
    • Inventories and stocks supplies.
      • Assures that daily supply stocks and linens are full and ready to use. Records supply usage if indicated.
      • Stocks and inventories soft goods, supplies as needed.
      • Keeps traction cart supplies maintained and stocked.
      • Assures complete supplies and linens at Recreation Center and transports items.
    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
    • Keeps office machines maintained and operational.
    • Completes photocopying as needed.
    • Helps keep staff informed regarding Information Systems changes/education.
    • Performs other duties as assigned that individual is qualified to perform.
    • Assists with established exercise and modality programs following protocols and precautions.
    • Applies modalities in a safe manner, following departmental policies.
    • Assists therapists with brace/crutch/walker fittings and adjustments.
