We manage procurement and materials requirements from development, through pilot and transfer to Manufacturing. We ensure accurate development of master data. We align supply and demand, assist in sourcing and quoting, manage capacity constraints, support initial builds, and ensure product flow through our global manufacturing and distribution network.
The NPI Buyer/Planner plays an essential role supporting product line execution, delivery and distribution for NPI platforms. The ideal candidate will possess the skills and aptitude to master most of the basic job duties with knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. The NPI Buyer/Planner is expected to purchase and negotiate Direct materials from suppliers using standard operating procedures and ways of working with a high level of competence. This role will apply knowledge of the job to resolve non-standard situations by seeking advice/support before approaching non-standard situations with moderate complexity and impact. Work is still occasionally directed in several aspects of work. More straight-forward tasks are accomplished without assistance. Detailed work instructions are provided for new projects or assignments and reviewed regularly by Procurement management.
Responsibilities:
Create and execute purchase orders based on demand requirements
Create master data for new purchased materials
Ensure data integrity of master data elements which drive production and MRP (safety stock, cycle times, effectivity dates)
Develop and implement allocation strategies for products in short supply; understanding of supply market trends and supply chains in which suppliers operate
Support new product launches by performing minimally supervised supply chain activities that must occur to ensure initial builds of inventory for launch and for sustaining availability of inventory
Perform more challenging tasks requiring some creativity and problem solving
Participate in Engineering Change Order review, approval and implementation of material phase-in and phase-out and obsolescence
Manage timely execution of MRP actions to ensure uninterrupted supply to customer
Resolve simple to moderately complex invoice issues
Monitor and analyze supply chain key performance indicators using published performance reports
Participates on process improvement projects
Participates on project teams representing NPI Supply Chain
Requirements:
Understands key business drivers; uses knowledge in own work
Able to follow instructions and use initiative to solve problems
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field
Ability to problem solve/trouble shoot within immediate work area
Works without immediate supervision
Experience/Education:
Typically requires a Bachelors degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
APICS certification preferred
