    Job Description:

    The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients.

    The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

    We focus on providing extraordinary care for patients as they prepare for surgery & support patients during their earliest recovery phase prior to discharging home.

    Our team works closely with the operating room & the post anesthesia care unit (PACU/phase I); while playing a major role in keeping surgical patients safe both pre-operatively and post-operatively.

    Our department consists of five working areas:
    Pre-screening Call Center Pre-operative care area Post-operative care area (phase II) Pre-procedural ECT care area Post-procedural ECT care area

    Shift Details:
    Full time, 36 hours/week. 4 days/week - 9 hour shifts. These will rotate through each care area. Shifts start between depending on assigned care area. Pre shifts start , Prescreen shifts , Post shifts start SDS post shifts accepts patients until 20:30. We do require 4 Saturdays a year for staff meetings/team building activities (usually ).
    Minimum Qualifications
    Current RN License in state of practice.
    Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
    Unit specific certification as required (i.e., ACLS, PALS, etc.).
    Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    Basic computer skills.

    RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.


    Physical Requirements:

    Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.


    - and
    • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

    - and
    • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

    - and
    • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

    - and
    • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

    • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
