    Description

    Position Summary:

    The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the accounting department, including general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing with a particular emphasis on prevailing wage payroll compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting and be adept at managing multiple financial tasks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • Exempt
    • 80 hours of vacation a year
    • Holidays: New Years, Washington Birthday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day,

    Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day and day after, Christmas. (follows Union Schedule)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prevailing Wage Payroll Management: Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws and regulations, process payroll accurately and on time, and handle payroll-related inquiries.
    • General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
    • Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure the integrity of financial data.
    • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and monitor actual performance against budget.
    • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
    • Audit Preparation: Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
    • Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations and prevailing wage laws.
    • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
    • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounting department.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
    • Strong experience in construction accounting, including prevailing wage payroll.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
