    Position Specific Description

    Energy Marketing and Trading (EMT) is seeking a Physical Trading Manager to lead the team that is responsible for fuel procurement and scheduling of fuel for FPL's generation fleet and FPL's truck fleet. The Physical Trading Manager is also tasked with the development and execution of innovative strategies to continue to develop FPL's Biodiesel sales to third parties throughout FPL's service territory.

    Activities may involve negotiation of fuel procurement contracts, negotiation of reliable delivery timelines for procured fuel, diversifying supplier contacts, as well as performance reporting of biodiesel and fuel procurement activities. The Manager will also be responsible for keeping abreast of general fuel market activities and maintaining relationships with internal and 3rd party customers. This position requires a deep understanding of power and fuel markets and an ability to assimilate information from and work closely with multiple disciplines including: senior management, regulatory, accounting, risk analytics, risk management and credit. The Manager is expected to coach their team members to expand their knowledge of energy market fundamentals and technical analysis.

    Job Overview


    This job is responsible for managing a group of individuals involved in physical power trading, fuel management and the scheduling activities of the company's natural gas and fuel oil transportation alternatives.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities



    • Oversees 24-hour operations desk, including power trading and fuel management

    • Oversees scheduling activities, including the optimization of the company's natural gas and fuel oil transportation alternatives

    • Performs the functions of the "Responsible Employee" for NERC compliance

    • Promotes, cultivates, and maintains a culture of compliance within the group

    • Supports the Florida Cost Based Broker System (FCBBS) through continued participation on the Board

    • Provides interface with System Operations, Power Generation Division and natural gas pipelines on a daily basis and during critical events

    • Develops and maintains systems and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient operations

    • Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements

    • Ability to work extended hours

    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

    • High School Grad / GED

    • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

    • Experience:7+ years

    • Supervisor/Management Experience:2+ years
