    Excellent opportunity for a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator with expertise, leadership and education in the areas of Performance Improvement and Clinical Research. Coordinates nursing, physician and organizational data collection and analysis of outcomes, serving as team facilitator and providing consultation on tools, techniques, use of data and interpretation of results. This position will collect data for various studies by electronic medical search and abstraction, assimilate data and create reports in various chart/graph formats. Support and assist in implementation of institutional wide PI plan. Maintains clinical competencies by remaining current in bedside emergency nursing.

    Some duties include:

    • Assist with IRB application, progress/closure reports, amendments, instruction to staff regarding requirements, IRB Manager access, COIs and CITI training.
    • Assist with study procedures according to protocol requirements. Examples include such functions as: creation of data collection form, consenting patients where appropriate, NIH Stroke scale testing, Mini Mental Exams, EKG, Blood sample collection and processing, etc.
    • Prepares acute daily follow-up paperwork for acute pain rounds.
    • Daily hospital pain patient rounds with pain attending and residents.
    • Hospital Pain Committee member- Attends monthly meetings and participates in hospital initiatives, educates and updates staff on hospital pain management issues/changes to practice.
    • Assist pharmacy with investigation and reconciliation of practitioner discrepancies
    • Work with MIS to update CPA scripts to comply with ongoing regulatory requirements and hospital PI initiatives: e.g. ERAS COLON, ERAS GYN, antibiotic documentation for SCIP reporting.
    • Perform Quarterly PI Activities reporting. And oversee Clinical Pertinence reporting.
    • Contact practitioners to complete write-ups for Peer Review for referred cases, hospital reported clinical indicator cases (Death within 48 hours of surgery, re-intubation within 24 hours of anesthesia) and complaints (Investigate and respond to complaints).
    • Administer Flu shots to staff and complete paperwork for EHS etc.

    We require:

    • Masters of Science degree in Nursing is preferred
    • Current NYS licensure as RN required; BSN preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience required
    • Supervisory experience required
    • 2+ years of performance improvement experience
    • 2+ years of pain management experience
    • 2+ years of experience working in a hospital setting preferred
    • Excellent interpersonal and English written/verbal communication skills
    • Computer proficiency in MS Office
    • Knowledge of systems: Network Access/Outlook, ChartMaxx, Standard Register, SCM, PACS/Web PACS, PeriBirth, ORMIS, CPA, Citrix Access, RAS, Apollo, TXM Vue, Sharepoint IRB Manager, Sharepoint Interdepartmental Peer Review Referral, CPM_PRD Report Tree
