    The RN Manager Outpatient, is responsible to manage, promote, evaluate and direct the day-to-day operations of the clinic assigned. Provide direction for total patient care in collaboration with the physicians, sub-specialists, nursing, and ancillary services. Responsible for the development and implementation of protocols in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Operations.

    Monitors the effectiveness of these protocols through interaction with all departments system-wide and through problems identified in the quality improvement program.

    Functions as a resource and liaison to all departments within the LCMC system, including nursing, Social Services, Emergency Services, Admissions, Radiology, Labor and Delivery and all other services provided to the patient.


    GENERAL DUTIESDirects activities of the Patient Care Units:
    Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Operations in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating the clinical care.

    Responsible for individual accountability for clinical practice and serves as a clinical resource by participating in providing care within the scope of the RN license.

    Coordinates nursing care issues with the appropriate department director or supervisor of support services. Critiques high risk patient events and care in the pre-hospital setting and at referring hospitals. Reviews the plan of care for each patient to ensure follow up orders are initiated and completed. Assists staff throughout the facility in problem-solving related to the care of high-risk patients and their families. Consults with RN navigators, specialists, and referring physicians to ensure continuity in care. Works closely with patients and families to identify opportunities for education and after delivery support if necessary.
    Demonstrates an increasing level of management skills and capabilities through leadership functions. Schedules and assigns staff to meet the needs of the unit. Utilizes critical thinking skills in management of patient care and employee performance issues. Responsible for conducting performance evaluations and competency assessments in a timely manner. Keeps supervisory notes throughout the year that reflect positive aspects of performance as well as areas for improvement. Handles disciplinary issues with assigned staff accordance to hospital guidelines. Reconciles timecards/ demonstrates accurate and timely approval of employees' time record. Participates in recruitment, hiring and orientation of new staff. Provide leadership, activity planning, coordination and day-to day direction to assure quality care for the patients in the Clinics. Collaborates with staff in the development and implementation of standards of practice/care for designated unit(s). Identifies progress toward desired care outcomes and coordinates multi-disciplinary team interventions to move towards outcomes. Maintains a high level of professional behavior. Participates and initiates morning huddles that include the physicians to plan the day.

    Implements the strategic plan through reengineering and redesign of business processes and systems, including staffing, and accurate billing to increase revenues and reduce costs.

    Monitors, evaluates and controls appropriate utilization of budgeted FTE's and operational expenses. Monitors the unit's budget and ensures cost effective utilization of resources. Identifies and implements a plan to accurately forecast review, expenses, and the capital budget in the department. Identifies processes and systems to increase revenue and reduce costs.

    • SupervisoryLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSRegistered Nursing License Louisiana State Board of NursingBasic Life Support Heart Saver & First Aid American Heart AssociationSKILLS AND ABILITIESOrganization and prioritization skills.

    Adheres to RN role as written in the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and outlines in orientation specific to the department and facility.

    Ability to enter and analyze data.

    Able to demonstrate basic working knowledge of fax machines, calculators, copiers, and basic computer programs (Word, email, Excel , Microsoft-XP & PowerPoint).Must be able to document in Centricity and work with GE Viewpoint.
