    Description

    This a floater positionin our BROC Therapy Services offices and reports directly to the Patient AccessManager for all matters, including job duties, performance evaluations,approval of leave, and for other assignments as deemed necessary for thebenefit of the Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic (BROC). Also, reports to theTherapy Site Supervisor for all clinical operations.

    NATURE OF DUTIES:

    Performs a variety ofmedical office duties ranging from receptionist, checking patients in forappointments, appointment scheduling, coordinating medical records, andcorrespondence.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES:

    1. Greets patients orcustomers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

    2. Checks-in patientsfor appointments.

    3. Provides secretarialservices for the professional staff.

    4. Answers incomingcalls and directs them to the appropriate personnel or takes messages.

    5. Schedulesappointments for patients in the office and over the phone.

    6. Processes incomingreferrals.

    7. Completes theregistration of the patient, explaining the paperwork to be completed to thepatient if necessary.

    8. Ensures that a clearcopy of the patient's current insurance card(s) and demographic information isentered into the patient's medical record.

    9. Presents patient withexplanation of insurance benefits provided by the Therapy Billing Department attheir first visit.

    10.Handles allprescription and authorization alerts.

    11.Enters allinformation for new patients into medical record. Scans and polls neededdocuments.

    12. Enters electronicmessages to other departments to assist with patient flow.

    13. Collects theappropriate co-pays or balances due.

    14. Performsappropriate, timely, and accurate documentation in the medical record as isapplicable to patient service duties.

    15. Maintains HIPAAprivacy and security and provides the BROC Notice of Privacy Practices to newpatients or to any person who requests it.

    16. Distributes patientsatisfaction surveys as instructed by Supervisor or upon patient request.

    17. Performs otherrelated duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemednecessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of BROC.

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR THEPOSITION:

    1. Knowledge ofpatient/customer reception techniques.

    2. High school diplomaor equivalent.

    3. Good communication,organizational, and customer service skills.

    4. Ability to learncomputerized medical office systems.

    5. Knowledge of medicalterminology preferred.

    6. General office andsecretarial skills preferred.
