    REGISTERED NURSE (RN) - SPECIALTIES (PART-TIME)
    Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an Registered Nurse (RN2) to join our 10NJB Surgical Specialty Clinics - GI/Kidney/Liver/Hypertension, Cardiology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Vascular.

    WORK SCHEDULE:


    • Full-time, 20% FTE, 8 hours per week

    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

    The 9NJB Specialty Clinics is a multi-specialty outpatient clinic that serves our Harborview Mission population.

    With both medical and surgical specialties co-located in a shared clinic space, clinic staff work within a muti-disciplinary team consisting, but not limited to, attending and resident providers, APPs, pharmacists, social workers, and respiratory therapy.

    The patients served by our specialty services range from individuals seeking one-time consults to those needing long term complex case management.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Provides pre-assessment evaluation/intake assessments for patients seen in the multi-service, multi-specialty clinics.
    • Responsible for point of care procedures used in Surgical Specialties clinics.
    • Responsible for peripheral and central catheter care, including insertion of peripheral catheters, monitoring and maintenance of peripheral IV lines, and central lines including Hickman, port-a-cath, groshon catheters, chemotherapy and blood infusions. Procedure will be done according to HMC Policies and Procedures.
    • Demonstrates proper sterile technique for the set-up and breakdown of all minor surgery procedures done in the Surgery clinics, wound care, including suture/staple removal and steri-stripping.
    • Demonstrates proper sterile/clean technique for all procedures including placement and removal of foley catheters, colostomy care, blood draws (simple and complex), IV and IM, SQ injections
    • Responsible for the discharge and collaborative planning for discharge of patients from the Specialty clinics.
    • Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary services to provide a continuum of care for the patient.
    • Demonstrates ability to assess patients being treated for vascular compromise and neuropathies of peripheral extremities.
    • Facilitates continuity of care across the continuum of care.
    REQUIREMENTS:


    • Active, valid Washington State or Multi-state RN license required by start date.
    • Two years of professional nursing experience.
