What does a Certified NursingAssistant (CNA) do?

TheCertified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing residentswith direct nursing care and assistance with daily activities underthe direction of a Licensed Nurse and as directed in resident careplan.

In this job, everyday you will...

1. Ensure resident's personal care needs are being metthrough routine check-ins and promptly responding to calllights.
2. Provide care to residents as outlinedin the resident care plan. Reviews changes to resident care plansdaily.
3. Communicate observed changes in theresident's condition to charge nurse for assessment.
4. Assist residents with individual personal care needs suchas grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care,toileting, skin care, or other needs as required in the resident'scare plan.
5. Perform tasks as assigned by thecharge nurse including but not limited to taking vital signs,capturing residents' weights, and collecting specimens.
6. Lift, move, and transfer residents using proper methodsand lifting devices as required in the resident careplan.
7. Document care and assistance provided toresidents as required by company policy.
8. Protect the personal belongings of each resident such aseyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids, furnishings, jewelry, clothing,and memorabilia. Promptly report missing items according toestablished policy.
9. Complete all job dutieswhile following required infection control procedures, includingbut not limited to thorough hand washing, proper use of personalprotective equipment and proper disposal of soiledmaterials.
10. Follow and supports fire lifesafety practices and procedures and promptly reports any unsafeconditions or equipment to immediate supervisor.
11. Complete all requirements for in-servicetraining.
12. Perform other duties asassigned.

Education & Experience you needto qualify:

• A high school diploma or equivalent knowledge and skillsobtained through a combination of education, training, andexperience.
• Must hold current Certification inthe specific state in which you wish to practice.
• Ability to communicate effectively, in English, withresidents, visitors, and staff. Good written and oral communicationskills. Ability to understand verbal directions and read writteninstructions. Ability to understand the daily needs of residents.Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and proceduremanuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply,and divide simple numbers.
• Ability toaccurately observe, report, and problem-solve residents' needs withassistance of a supervisor. Ability to interpret a variety ofinstructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduleform.
• Work with residents in a Skilled NursingCenter. Potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
