    Description

    Job Summary:
    A Supervisor at the smelting and refining facilities takes the responsibility over a team of production operators. The team consists out of (6) production operators, (1) ladle and ingot preparation operator and (1) waste water and off gas treatment operator
    He/she will assist and guide the operators. He/she will follow up the work of the operators, give advice and/or help when needed. The Supervisor gives instructions to the operators and he/she will make a schedule for the operators.

    He is responsible for the education of new operators, takes part in educational training himself and delegates training-on-the-job throughout his team.

    The Supervisor will execute the same tasks as the production operators.

    He/ she is responsible for operating the production process with his team according to the goals in terms of timing, production schedule and material throughput given by the production management.

    A comprehensive and profound knowledge of the production equipment and processes are his/ her base for an optimal performance.
    Following process steps are in scope for the Supervisor:

    • Day bin system and overhead crane
    • TBRC smelting, refining and converting
    Lead tin alloy furnace (3 stage reduction)

    • Ladle treatment stand operation
    • Separation furnace and slag granulation
    • Copper ingot casting, Lead Tin ingot casting
    • Waste water and off gas treatment
    • And other production related processes

    Responsibilities:
    Standard tasks

    • Using a process control system:
    • Swift reactions on alarms or warnings on the control system
    • Change parameters on the control system
    • Start and stop of machinery using the control system
    • Basic cleaning and maintenance tasks:
    • Cleaning of the TBRC mouth and hood
    • Cleaning refractory launders
    • Cleaning ladles and molds
    • Use a compressed air driven hammer and demolition robots during cleaning slag or molten metal
    • Assist the Ladle and ingots operator during smaller refractory repairs, launder refractory preparation, molds and ladles preparation, .


    • Basic computer work
    • Fill out the shift logbook (excel)
    • Create notifications for maintenance (SAP)
    • Participate in the continuous improvement process and drive the process within his/ her team
    • Responsibility for stock management of consumables in the smelting and refining area himself, monitoring by delegation within his team.
    Process tasks

    • Carry out process steps of the equipment assigned to the operator; e.
    g. bath level inspection, dip temperature measurement, adjustment of N2 flow in porous plugs, ...

    • Operate the different aspects of the equipment assigned to the operator; e.
    g. changing lances pipe elements of submerged lances, tilting and rotating furnaces, slag skim at TBRC and LTAF, open/ close and maintain tapholes at all furnaces, metal tapping at TBRC, LTAF and SHF, ...

    • Apply material fluxes to the furnaces using the different charging equipment and according to process description, operating ladle transfer cars, adding chemicals in the Ladle treatment stand process, prepare casting molds
    • Maintain Material silos and conveyors, ensure material flow, remove material build ups and blockings and clean the equipment and environment, .


    • Remote control of the overhead crane.
    • Follow up on process parameters to evaluate progress, decide if next step can be started.
    Prepare the equipment prior to a production run; ladle preparation, ingots preparation, temperature checks, ...

    • Clean the equipment after use; eg.
    Launders, tapholes, ...

    • Use the tools required to perform the tasks; oxygene burner lance, pence, .


    • Resolving minor malfunctions within his/her responsibilities.
    • Carry out production work according to the official work instructions
    Supervisor tasks

    • Supervise the production operators and take care of people planning to achieve the production goals
    • Participate in the daily production meeting if possible.
    • Guide the shift hand over between upcoming and leaving shift.
    • Batch planning and control.
    • Maintenance follow up
    • Makes reservations in the SAP system for warehouse parts.
    (PPE's, dip elements, ... and other consumables)

    • Evaluate the production operators under his supervision
    • Organize regular HSE and process related training for his team and document these trainings for legal purposes
    • Bear responsibility for running the process in compliance with health and safety standards and regulations given by law
    • Give leadership to the production operators, ladle and ingot preparation operators, overhead crane operator and waste water and off gas treatment operator
    Required Qualifications

    • Work experience in an operational environment is a bonus.
    • Driver license for industrial trucks (or willing to obtain it)
    • Driving license for the overhead crane and other lifting devices in the production area (or willing to obtain it)
    Operating a oxygen burner lance

    • Operating license for a demolition robot (or willing to obtain it)
    • OSHA awareness is a plus
