    Description

    Summary

    Assists Discipline Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers, and/or Engineering Manager with all aspects of the project engineering from proposal to final report by performing any of the following duties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    §Develop databases, documents and reports based on provided data and information.

    §Research historic, environmental, community, project, and design information for reports and designs.

    §Draft reports, memos, and letters for review and approval by an engineer.

    §Use computer engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

    §Develop drawings in AutoCAD under the direction of an engineer.

    §Applies design standards & procedures to implement basic design.

    §Assist project managers with the preparation of estimates, cost reports, forecasts, schedules, account codes, budgets and change orders.

    §Update estimates, schedules, reports, drawings and documents based on revisions and changes to the project as directed by an engineer.

    §Assist with preparation of final project reports including obtaining historical data and information.

    §Perform field investigations, construction observations, or surveys in remote areas across Alaska under the direction of an engineer.

    §Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and company information.

    §Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.

    §This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    §This position will not be required to manage projects.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    §Some college Junior level or higher, with degree declared in Engineering, Surveying, Sciences, Engineering Management, or Construction Management.

    §Intermediate skillset with MS Word processing software and MS Excel spreadsheet software. Some exposure to computer aided drafting and engineering software preferred.

    §Training in AutoCAD.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

    Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

    Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.

    Physical requirements:Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

    Travel: Employee may travel up to 50% to various locations within Alaska and/or remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.

    §Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees and supervisor.

    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of employees, clients and vendors

    §Must possess a strong team orientation and willingness to assist in any area outside of the normal scope of this position.
