The role of Data Governance shapes the processes, roles, policies, standards, and metrics that ensure the responsible, effective, and efficient use of information.
Data Governance professionals must be intrinsically familiar with the business meaning, use, and strategy for data to effectively oversee the entire data lifecycle from ideation, architecture, development, and production.
By combining tactical skills with a deep understanding of global Data Privacy Regulation (i.e. GDPR, CCPA), local data-centric regulations (i.e. SOX, GLBA), and industry best practices (i.e. AI Ethics, PII, IAPP and PCI credentials and certifications), Data Governance is a critical partner to Enterprise Risk, Information Security, Compliance, Privacy, and Legal to enable and drive business goals and FIS data strategy, while helping to protect from risk.ABOUT THE POSITION
We're seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to work out of our Cincinnati, OH location (2-3 days/week). There may be flexibility on other strategic U.S. locations for the right candidate.
The Data Governance Specialist will lead the evolution of our data products to meet the challenges of increasing scale and complexity in how we deliver governed, responsible, market-leading innovation to our clients.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This key position, within the Enterprise Data Governance organization, reports to the Data Management Operations Manager and is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of data governance capabilities aligned to strategies to ensure the proper retention of data, robust data governance practices, and compliance to data policies, standards, and processes.
In this role you will:
champion data governance and data initiatives and define Data Retention strategy and objectives while enabling business value.
You will be a senior member with other data governance professionals who are responsible for the operational implementation and success of the initiatives defined by Worldpay's data strategy and data retention framework.
WHAT EXPERIENCE WILL YOU NEED?Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Data analysis skills with experience using enterprise tools such as Informatica IDQ, Informatica MDM, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, Informatica Axon, Collibra, and/or other metadata management tools
High-level understanding of global Data Privacy Regulation (i.e. GDPR, CCPA), local data-centric regulations (i.e. SOX, GLBA), and industry best practices (i.e. AI Ethics, PII, DCAM, IAPP and PCI credentials and certifications)
Ability to build relationships and credibility across the organization
Experience working on data and analytical processes, interacting, and collaborating with Technology teams in development and implementation of solutions to enable data governance capabilities, mitigate risks, and drive awareness and adoption data governance policies and standards across all data users.
Strong knowledge of and experience with data governance as a practice, including enterprise data management, data lifecycle management, data quality, data lineage, meta data management, data methodologies, data analytics and reporting, and the ethical use of data and artificial intelligence (AI).
Proficiency in SQLWHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Lead, evolve, and scale the data governance framework including managing the relevant objectives, approach, processes, policies, technology, and procedures.
Develop and implement a comprehensive data retention framework tailored to meet compliance and business needs.
Navigate a complex stakeholder landscape, demonstrating strong negotiation skills and the ability to handle multiple workstreams to ensure alignment with data governance policies.
Provide regular reporting on Enterprise Data Governance KPIs, metrics, and activities.Maintain comprehensive records of data policies, procedures, audits, and compliance evidence to support transparency and serve as reference for ongoing and new retention projects.
Maintain the relevance and accuracy of metadata within the Enterprise Data Governance Information System.Drive data governance adoption through stakeholder consultation and trainings (i.e. RegU, Lunch and Learns, playbooks)
Demonstrate proactive thought-leadership by actively keeping up to date on industry trends and developments by making recommendations for areas of opportunity and improvement.
Act as the point of contact for Business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Business Data Stewards and Technical Data Stewards for data quality and governance related questions/concernsWrite documentation including data governance workflows, standards, guidelines, taxonomies, operating procedures, and corporate data policies.
