    Job Title: Database Architect

    Department: Information Technology

    Duration: 6 months Contract with the possibility of extension or converted to full-time.

    Location : Appleton WI (Relocation is also fine)

    Job Summary:

    This job involves installing, configuring, and maintaining operation databases and data warehouse systems, as well as designing and implementing database structures, schemas and data models.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    1. Install, configure, and maintain both operational databases and data warehouse systems. Design and implement database structures, schemas, and data models to support organizational requirements.
    2. Develop and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to extract data from various sources, transform it as necessary, and load it into the data warehouse. Ensure data consistency and accuracy throughout the ETL process.
    3. Implement security measures to protect sensitive data stored in both databases and the data warehouse. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) through proper data encryption, access controls, and auditing.
    4. Monitor and optimize the performance of databases and data warehouse systems. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize SQL queries, and fine-tune database configurations to improve overall system performance.
    5. Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures for both operational databases and the data warehouse. Test backup and recovery processes regularly to ensure data availability in case of system failures or disasters.
    6. Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data consistency, integrity, and quality across databases and the data warehouse. Implement data validation rules and data quality checks as part of ETL processes.
    7. Estimate future database and data warehouse capacity requirements and plan for scalability to accommodate growing data volumes. Implement strategies for scaling database and data warehouse systems as needed.
    8. Provide technical support to users experiencing database and data warehouse-related issues. Develop and deliver training sessions to educate users on database and data warehouse best practices and procedures.
    9. Maintain accurate documentation of database and data warehouse configurations, ETL processes, and troubleshooting steps. Generate reports on database and data warehouse performance, usage statistics, and compliance metrics as required.
    10. Collaborate with other IT teams, data engineers, data analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to understand database and data warehouse requirements and to ensure that solutions align with organizational goals and objectives.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
    • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or Data Warehouse Specialist.
    • Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
    • Experience with data warehouse technologies such as Amazon, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.
    • Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling techniques.
    • Knowledge of ETL tools and processes for data integration and transformation.
    • Familiarity with data security best practices, regulatory compliance requirements, and data governance principles.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) are a plus.
