- Attendance and Flexibility: Regular and predictable attendance is expected, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Program Development: Provides high-quality outdoor recreation and environmental education programs that enhance Cleveland Metroparks' mission and promote environmental education and stewardship.
- Program Planning: Plans and presents quality programs within the park district and at off-site locations.
- Goal Setting: Establishes program goals and objectives in cooperation with Manager.
- Event Participation: Participates in special events or projects as assigned.
- Evaluation and Improvement: Assists in evaluating programs, offers recommendations for improvement, and actively participates in revising programs.
- Organizational Skills: Demonstrated organizational skills, including verbal communication, problem-solving, and conflict management.
- Transportation: Drives Park District vehicles to transport equipment and/or program participants as required.
- Maintenance and Safety: Assists in maintaining equipment and program materials, and responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions.
- Education: Bachelor's degree with specialization in environmental education, outdoor recreation, natural resources, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license under Ohio state law, and obtain and maintain current first aid/CPR certification.
- Audience Engagement: Willing and able to engage diverse audiences in outdoor education or recreation.
- Natural History Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the natural history of the region, or outdoor recreation skills.
- Communication Skills: Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Description
Job Title: Outdoor Experiences Specialist - Naturalist
The Outdoor Experiences Specialist - Naturalist plays a key role in supporting the efforts of Outdoor Experiences staff and mission by leading programs, making independent decisions, performing office work, directing volunteers, and other related functions. This specialist may focus on outdoor education, outdoor recreation, historical interpretation, or facility/program support.

24 hours per week leading children's nature camps, weekdays only. Availability between May 19 and August 8 preferred, with one week off (July 6-12). 90% of time will be spent outdoors. Must be high energy, responsible, and have experience working with primary school children. Knowledge of native flora and fauna is helpful.
