Summary

Get ready to work as a top plumber at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. You'll tackle challenging tasks like setting up and maintaining plumbing fixtures, solving plumbing system issues, conducting inspections, tests, and repairs, and even handling basic HVAC and electrical jobs occasionally.

General Information:

Work your shift with rotating weekends and holidays, and be prepared for overtime and varied shifts during emergencies and bad weather.
Some convictions may prevent you from certain access privileges and job opportunities.
Hold a valid driver's license with a maximum of six points and be able to get and keep a City driving permit.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the charge in installing, maintaining, and fixing plumbing systems.
Carry out preventive maintenance on underground sewer and drainage systems.
Check and troubleshoot aircraft hangar doors and motors.
Handle general building maintenance tasks and provide guidance to apprentice and other workers.
Make lists of necessary equipment, tools, and supplies.
Repair carpet, security doors, gates, and passenger seating.
Inspect and repair building structures like roofs, windows, and doors.
Operate various heavy equipment including cars, vans, lifts, and bucket trucks.
Oversee airport construction projects and collaborate with external inspectors and tenants.
Step in as a supervisor when required, especially during emergencies and inclement weather.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Understanding of plumbing and building systems.
Able to handle journey level work on plumbing systems.
Familiarity with other building trades and general maintenance.
Capability to read and interpret schematic designs and blueprints.
Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, contractors, and tenants. Follow instructions accurately.

Physical Requirements
Engage in various physical activities, spending most of your time standing, bending, and walking. Other tasks include sitting, twisting, kneeling, lifting, and driving. Typically lift up to 50 lbs. Work indoors and outdoors, facing potential exposure to different elements and environments.

Minimum Qualifications

Have at least a high school diploma or GED along with five years of experience, or an associate degree with three years of relevant experience in the industry. Possess a NC State P1 plumbing license if possible, with a solid understanding of building trades and maintenance.
