    Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Family Preservation Worker – Caring Dads will work with fathers to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and families. Facilitate group intervention to fathers who are child welfare involved. In addition to group facilitation, provide comprehensive assessment of father's parental capacity, improve co-parenting abilities, provide linkage to community resources and provide home visits observation between father and child. Responsible for collaborating with the Family Preservation team on recommendations. Utilize the comprehensive agency database, Family Preservation Workers maintain client records and complete all necessary documentation.

  • Receive referred cases from Director of Programs procure additional information such as social history and relevant case information needed.
  • Review case material and consult with DCYF, conduct a thorough assessment of each referred family upon intake, complete all appropriate intake forms and evaluation instruments per program standards.
  • Co-Facilitate 17-week groups for enrolled fathers dealing with intimate partner violence.
  • Develop a family service plan in collaboration with family members, DCYF workers and other relevant service providers as well as Project Connect team members. Provide copies of the signed plan to the family and DCYF.
  • Implement the plan through the provision of home-based services, including individual and family counseling, parent training, and linkage with schools and community agencies in collaboration with Project Connect team.
  • Provide comprehensive assessment of fathers and provide linkage to community resources.
  • Maintain contact and communication with DCYF workers, substance abuse and mental health treatment providers as well as other community-based supports. Coordinate 90-day/or as needed case conferences to include parents, DCYF workers and other relevant people.
  • Prepare progress reports for client's court dates, make court appearances, and provide court advocacy.
  • Prepare a termination summary on all cases which are terminated from services. Provide copies of this summary to DCYF and other relevant providers.
  • Maintain client records and complete all necessary documentation within established program time frames.
  • Constructively utilize formal and peer supervision to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing services to clients. This includes active participation in supervision, team meetings and agency meetings.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through professional reading and attending relevant workshops and conferences (including Children's Friend's core training program).
  • Demonstrate professionalism, competence and expertise when representing the agency in the community.
  • Maintain state licensure at the highest possible level given degree and experience.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree, preferably in Social Work or Bachelor's degree with extensive experience with at-risk families, domestic violence, and service coordination.
  • Ability to work flexible hours per program needs required.
  • Proven time management skills and relationship building skills.
  • Experience with computer programs including databases, Microsoft Word and email systems preferred.
  • Experience with fathers who have experienced intimate partner violence.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, automobile, and auto liability insurance.
  • Must meet all pre-employment checks, criminal and medical clearances, and immunization requirements.
